Recently visited the Ekambareswarar / Ekambaranathar Temple and Jurahareshwarar / Airavatesvara temple an popular Lord Shiva with great architecture and history located in Kanchipuram.
Ekambareswarar / Ekambaranathar temple is an popular Lord Shiva temple with great architecture and history located in Kanchipuram. It was built during the Chola dynasty in the 9th century. Ekambaranathar means the “Lord of Mango Tree”. The sthala-virutcham – the official mango tree of the temple is a 3,500 year old mango tree whose branches are known to yield four different types of mangoes. This temple is one of the five major Shiva temples or Pancha Bootha Sthalams – each representing a natural elements – Earth.
The other four temples in this category are Thiruvanaikaval Jambukeswara – water, Chidambaram Natarajar- ether, Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswara – fire and Kalahasti Nathar – wind.

By Rail: The Kanchipuram Railway Station (Code CJ) has regular and direct trains connecting to Chennai, Tirupati, Nagarcoil, Chengalpattu, Bangalore, etc..
