Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam National Memorial at Peikarumbu in Dhanushkodi Road, Rameswaram is a tribute to our unwavering affection for Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, lovingly called the “People’s President”.

The memorial is on a 2.11-acre plot of land, and the bronze life-size statue of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, which was unveiled in 2016, has been relocated and erected behind it. Every stone placed in the memorial represents Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s dream of United India like entrance gate depiction of India Gate and the principal arch of the building is similar to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

For the construction of this memorial, sand, water, and other materials had been obtained from all over India. The garden of the memorial is planted with the taste of Dr. Kalam

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was born and brought up in Rameswaram and became a scientist and worked for DRDO and ISRO. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is the World famous Indian scientist who played a leading role in India’s missile programs. He was also elected as the 11th president of India from 2002 to 2007.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was laid to rest at this place called – “Pei Karumbu” in Rameswaram On the 30th of July 2015, after his sudden demise in Shillong on July 27, 2015. This memorial is not just another museum, it’s a fitting tribute to the “Missile Man of India“. He had always liked various facets of Indian culture, so to pay respect to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s life, they have all been coordinated in this landmark.

Dr. Kalam’s memorial beautifully captures the simplicity, profundity, and tranquillity of Rameshwaram, which he embodied throughout his life. There are four halls inside the memorial that portray Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s life and times. We can walk through the various happenings of his life and get the details of his life history. Describes all the fantabulous work done and his excellent service. The memorial of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was maintained well, as to how our Former President wished our India to be.

The Interior Of the Memorial was very Attractive. The main attractions are Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Office room setup, Portrait painting, Wax Statue of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and the photograph of his work, life, and social life. We can see the transformation of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, from younger to being the Proud President of India. It contains the life span of Dr. Kalam, his achievements, and awards. On the Backside of the Memorial, there is a Rocket missile statue and Dr. Abdul Kalam bronze Statue.

About 900 paintings and 200 rare photographs of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who held the office of president from 2002 to 2007, are on display at the memorial. A Library, planetarium, auditorium, etc, are planned for the second phase of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam memorial, to be completed in the next phase of development.

This exquisite monument has become a landmark in the hometown of the people’s President. The memorial continues to inspire a large number of people, particularly young people.
