Review of my first trip to Singapore with Thrillophilia

– solo trip to singapore was exciting and filled with fun

Taking my first solo trip to Singapore was exciting and filled with fun. I love to travel but I mostly go with travel groups or my friends, so this time I decided to go on an international trip that too solo! I have always been a fan of Thrillophilia as I have been booking all my adventure trips from them. I even had a few contacts of previous destination experts but I decided to check out Singapore trip reviews and packages first.

As always! I was tempted to get everything I saw! But I decided to reach out to the team and take their suggestion. My tour contact Ankit suggested 3 tour packages that were ideal 5 day trip itineraries. He sent me the pdf’s and also said that I could completely build a new tour package of my choice. After much thinking and surfing, I decided to take the 2nd package- The Best of Singapore. Luckily this was the same package that had 4.9/5 stars in many reviews of the Singapore tour with Thrillophilia.

My trip:

From the moment I arrived at Changi Airport, I was in awe. I had travelled to 22 countries but had never seen such a beautiful airport in my life! Getting through the airport was easy and the driver, who was also the local tour guide was waiting at the entrance for me. I noticed how modern and efficient the city was as I was on my way to my hotel on Balestier Road. This area was a good choice because it was affordable and close to many attractions.

On my first day, I visited the Marina Bay area. The Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Merlion Park were amazing places to see and take photos. In the evening, I watched a light show at Gardens by the Bay. This show was quite popular and just magical to see! The beautiful lights and music made the whole experience magical. The second day was all about fun on Sentosa Island! My guide dropped me at the station and I took a very fun cable car ride. I spent the whole morning at Universal Studios Singapore and enjoyed such thrilling rides and shows. Later before sunset, I was soo tired that I simply relaxed at Siloso Beach. So Sentosa Island had so many things to do that you should at least spend the whole day there.

So my initial day 3 was supposed to be for adventure water sports but I am not a big fan of deep waters. Instead, I booked a food tour in addition to my tour package. So I had read in a Thrillophilia Singapore trip review about this and really wanted to do it since then. My food tour covered 3 main areas Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam. This was the best decision I had made as I got to meet another fun solo traveller from India! The guided tour was quite educational as our guide narrated the history of these iconic quarters. What seemed most surprising was the amount of Indians who lived in Singapore and most of them could speak in both Malayali and Hindi. I got to try so much food! My highlight was Indo-Pakistani cuisine as I love mutton! The taste was as authentic as it could get! We even tried different beers in Kampong Glam. And oh! They also had fried cockroach fritters and earthworm pickles. It was the most fun day of the entire trip!

On the fourth day, I left my hotel at 8:30 am and visited the famous Singapore Zoo. The zoo was completely open and animals lived in environments that looked like their natural habitats. I also went to the River Safari and Night Safari, which were great for seeing animals up close. I left for the night safari at 1:00 am at night! Later I ate at a hawker centre recommended by my guide and tried the best local dishes -Hainanese chicken rice and chilli crab. The food was delicious and didn’t cost much at all!

On my last day, I decided to travel locally on the fast MRT! I went shopping on Orchard Road followed by Kampong Glam again. I also visited the Sultan Mosque which is located right in the centre with its beautiful golden dome. The nearby streets were full of little shops and restaurants, perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Overall, my solo trip to Singapore was a wonderful experience and the people were friendly and helpful. While writing this Thrillophilia review of Singapore trip I realised that travelling alone let me do things at my own pace and choose activities I enjoyed most. I had such a good time that I can’t wait to go back with my friends but this time, as their guide!
