Recently visited the Munnar, which is 60km from Idukki, Kerala. Munnar is Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams, 1600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. It is the South India’s largest tea growing region with widely cultivated tea plantations, winding lanes makes this place as a popular resort town. The Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (KDHP) – now Tata Tea is the main tea factory around here. The highest point on the munnar – Kodaikanal road is Top Station, lying 1700 m above the sea level. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi. Mattupetty famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Mattpetty Lake and Dam, the sprawling Kundala tea Plantations and the Kundala lake are other attractions in this locality.

On Railways: The nearest railway station is Kochi (Station code CHTX) or Ernakulam (Station code ERS) which is about 124 km. It is a major junction of the trains coming from various parts of India including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Mangalore etc. However, Aluva Railway Station is closer to Munnar with a distance close to 100 km.
On Airways: The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport (Code: COK), which is 99 kilometers away by road. From Cochin, you can hire a cab to get to Munnar.
