Dhanurveda / Dhanurvedam is an ancient Indian science of archery techniques, which is also discussed in Yajur Veda – one of the four Indian Veda and in the Ramayana and Mahabharata period
Dhanurveda / Dhanurvedam is one of the four upaveda:
1. Ayurveda – Study of Medicine, related to ?igveda
2. Dhanurveda -Study of Archery, related to Yajurveda
3. G?ndharvaveda – Study of Music and Dance, related to Samaveda
4. Artha??stra – Study of Economics, related to Atharvaveda
Dhanurvedam is one of the World’s oldest surviving scriptures that teaches the master archery warfare techniques related to our Indian traditional archery methodology. The Shivoham Project created an interesting and enlightening documentary on Dhanurveda and its strategy from the source scriptures of Vasishta Dhanurveda Samhita and Agni Puranam.
Dhanurveda / Dhanurvedam is divided into four trainings/stages:
1. War Ethics
2. Strategy of war
3. Army Construct
4. Weapons and Training
According to Dhanurveda / Dhanurvedam, the weapons are divided into:
Amukta – weapons which not released from hands during the attack.
Mukta – weapons that are released from hands during the attack.
Muktamukta – weapons that can be released from hands or always hold in hand during the attack.
Yantra Mukta – weapons always released from hands during the attack.
