Kanchi matha / Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham / Kanchi monastery at Kanchipuram is one of the oldest Hindu Math / Monastery that has been established by the great Indian Legendary Sri Adi Sankara, an Advaita Vedanta reformer and philosopher. Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham / Math is more than 1200 to 2000 years old, has a history of 70 Acharyas – spiritual leaders, with preservation of ancient Hindu dharma, literature, and for the propagation of Advaita discipline. Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham is named after Goddess Kamakshi located in the temple very near to the place in the name of Kamakoti / Goddess Durga. It is locally called Sankara matam.

The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham has the Maha Samadhis called the Brindavanam of Paramacharya Mahaperiyava – the 68th Jagadguru and Sri Jayendra Saraswathi – the 69th Jagadguru.

At this Sankara math we have a very big spacious meditation hall and where we can feel the positive vibrations when we sit and meditate at the Divine place. The Chandramouleeswara Pooja performed at this place is really very vibrant. Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam also has a Veda Patasala – Veda school. It’s a great devotional experience to hear Vedic chants by students in the peetham. Each year Navaratri is one of the most grandly celebrated at the Sankara math. Each day food is served during mid-day free of cost at their dining hall.
