Thiruvaleeswarar Temple located in Nerumbur Village, 15 KM from Kalpakkam and 28 KM from Chengalpattu, is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is situated. The primary deity is Lord Thiruvaleeshwarar, accompanied by the Goddess Thirupurasundari. The Thiruvaleeswarar Siva Temple features a three-tier Rajagopuram, though it is leaning. Currently, the temple is in a dilapidated condition, yet Lord Shiva is worshipped within. Vegetation and trees have grown over the sanctum, adding to the temple’s ancient ambiance.

Constructed with a sanctum sanctorum, this temple houses idols of Goddess Durgai, Lord Vinayagar, and Lord Bhairavar. Currently, there is no Vimana over the temple’s sanctum.

History of Thiruvaleeswarar Temple, Nerumbur, Chengalpatt

Legend has it that Lord Chandran and Lord Suryan once worshipped Lord Shiva at this site. Initially built during the Chola era, the temple underwent significant renovations by the Vijayanagara Kings. Various inscriptions found within the temple premises date back to the reigns of Rajaraja Chola I, Sambuvarayars, and Vijayanagara Kings. These inscriptions detail the grants and gifts bestowed upon the temple.
